BEE study on electricity market design

The Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie e.V. (BEE, the German Renewable Energy Federation) has presented its proposals for an electricity market design based on renewable energy: ‘Neues Strommarktdesign für die Integration fluktuierender Erneuerbarer Energien’ (a new electricity market design for the integration of variable renewable energy), with the scientific work carried out by the Fraunhofer Institutes IEE and ISE.

Among other things, the study shows that bringing the coal phase-out forward to 2030 is feasible and that renewable energy can increasingly take on responsibility for the electricity system as a whole.
